What is The Fish Tank?
The Fish Tank is a course management coaching program built around Strokes Gained strategy and real on-course decision making. You work directly with professional golfer Chris Petefish, a former Top-288 player in the world who is still competing, and he reviews your rounds, analyzes your decisions, and shows you exactly where shots are being lost.
This isn't swing instruction. It's the part of the game almost nobody coaches and the part that's costing you the most strokes.
There are many Strokes Gained platforms out there and players come in using all of them. You don't have to change what you're using. Chris will evaluate your current platform, how you're reading the data, and whether it's the right fit for you. If it's not, he'll point you toward one that is.
The program requires a minimum of three months, with six months recommended. That time is what allows Chris to identify real patterns across multiple rounds and make lasting changes to how you think on the course. Everything Chris finds can be shared directly with your swing coach, so your whole team is working from the same information.

What Chris Does in The Tank
Here is what actually happens inside the program.
✅ Strokes Gained Review Chris reviews the Strokes Gained platform you are using and makes sure the data is helping you understand where shots are actually being lost.
✅ Course Strategy Training You will receive a course strategy tutorial that shifts how you view playing tournament golf, including targets, decision making, and smarter choices that lower scores.
✅ Homework and Practice Direction Each player receives a homework packet to expand their understanding of course management, along with recommended drills and practice priorities while your rounds are entered and analyzed.
✅ Tournament Preparation The Fish Tank covers how to prepare for tournaments like a PGA professional, including travel, physical preparation, practice rounds, and structuring your tournament week.
✅ Round and Data Monitoring When you are in The Fish Tank, you are one of my players. I am personally invested in your success, I follow your events, and I review your round data as it is uploaded.
✅ Coach Collaboration I can view your information anytime through the Strokes Gained platform and share insights directly with your swing coach so everyone is working from the same information.
✅ Real Time Feedback Even when I am traveling and competing myself, I can still see your rounds and data. I check in on your progress constantly, the same way I would track my fantasy football team.

What Platform Works For You
With Chris Petefish, you are going to understand the importance of why you need to track your golf data. Where do you start and which of the many platforms fits your needs? Chris Petefish is certified in all the major strokes gained analysis platforms and will fit you into the platform that best suits your individual needs.
Strategy and Execution By The Numbers
With being a Fish Tank member, you are going to receive the full range and understanding of what each course strategy has to offer. I will teach you the Decade course management system and how to use it to shave several strokes off your game. Discussions on course strategy will occur throughout the 3-month program so you can become a master of it. This also includes training the mental discipline required to make sound strategic decisions, even during the most pressure-filled moments on the course.
Course Management Homework
Once we have you placed in the right stats platform, there are many things to begin working on while we wait for the data to start rolling in. First, I will create a homework packet with various random holes where the client has to work out the correct target to make sure the information is sticking. I will also assign practice drills, which include honing in on shot patterns, driving cone practice, and pre-shot routine training.
Tournament Prep and Travel Like The Pros
The Fish Tank also includes access to all the knowledge I have accrued to best prepare for a tournament like a PGA professional would. Topics include how to best utilize your time during a practice round, how to analyze the course, and finally what devices and practices the top players use to recover more quickly while on the road. We will even discuss your routines on tournament day.
Player to Coach Cheat sheets
Fish Tank clients will also receive swing coach cheat sheets. When I was growing up, I had no idea what to work on with my coach other than saying, “I feel like my irons are going right or my I’m pulling my driver.” What if you could hand your swing coach a piece of paper outlining exactly what is working well and what might be causing you problems? This "cheat sheet" gives your coach a much clearer roadmap of what to work on during your time together and how to make adjustments more rapidly.
What Course Fits You Best Based On Your Stats and Data
The other thing your information will reveal to me is which courses most favor your game and therefore should be prioritized in comparison to others. I can tell this information by looking at your shot dispersions, shot shapes, strengths in certain irons, and more. Understanding your course fits can be especially advantageous when it comes US Junior Am qualifiers, US Amateur qualifiers, Mid-Am’s, and more.
Monthly Zoom Check In
Each Fish Tank member will have a one hour monthly zoom check-in to discuss the progress in your data and many of the topics mentioned above. I will analyze the numbers on the platform with course strategy to paint a picture of your information that no computer can singlehandedly give you. For example, most of the time when I see a low greens in regulation percentage from a certain yardage, the solution is not to fix your swing. Rather, it is a simple misunderstanding of a player’s shot pattern and
thus an easy solution. Additional zoom hours can be billed.
